Police searching for man who reportedly robbed bank near UNCW
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police Department is responding to a robbery at a bank near UNCW.
Police say it happened at the Wells Fargo on South College Road around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
WPD says he passed a note to a bank teller and said he had a weapon, but never actually showed one.
The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money before walking out.
Suspect is described as a 25 year old black male, 5’4″, 130 lbs, wearing a red jacket, dark blue jeans and tan boots.
Anyone with information is asked to call WPD or Text A Tip.
The suspect wanted looks similar to the man wanted for robbing a gas station in Leland Wednesday night.
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Elijah Mahammad McFarland is wanted for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
It happened at the Circle K Convenience Store on Ocean Highway East in Leland around 10 p.m.
They say McFarland told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money before running away with cash.
He’s 5’8″, about a 150-pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was wearing a red jacket and white hat.
