Police: Two teens facing charges for concealing stolen guns

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say two teens face charges after officers found two stolen weapons on the duo during a traffic stop Saturday night.

Police say around 6 p.m. Saturday, an officer with WPD and a New Hanover County sheriff’s deputy stopped a car with an expired registration speeding down Evans Street. Officers say the driver, Travis Hale, 18, of Wilmington, gave them consent to search the car.

When police were frisking Hale, that’s when they say they found a gun tucked inside his waistband. Officers then frisked the passenger, Christian Ramirez, 19, and found a second gun inside his waistband.

Officers say they they arrested the duo and discovered both handguns were reported stolen. Both Hale and Ramirez face charges for carrying concealed weapons and possession of the stolen guns. Police say Ramirez also faces drug charges.
