WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington woman is facing several charges after police say she threatened people while armed with a machete Tuesday morning.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded just after 7:50 a.m. to a restaurant in the 2500 block of Carolina Beach Road after receiving reports of a woman beating on a window and making threats while waving a machete in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they identified the woman as 46-year-old Jessica Alise Johnson of Wilmington. Police say officers were able to de-escalate the situation and take her into custody without further incident.

Johnson has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon other than a gun, going armed to the terror of the public, communicating threats, assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree trespass, and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a public officer.

She is currently being held without bond at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office detention facility.
