Prescribed burn planned at Halyburton Park

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington is planning to set fire to Halyburton Park again.

The city plans to do a prescribed burn in the park later this month or next month. It will happen when whether conditions are just right.

The burn of about 30 acres will help reduce the risk of wildfires, benefit plants and animals that need fire to thrive, promote plant species that attract wildlife and restores a natural element of long leaf pine forest.
