Remembering Alan: Loved ones, friends gather to honor fallen Good Samaritan

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A good deed led to a sad ending when one man died after he tried to help a woman who was being attacked earlier this month, but his memory lives on as friends and loved ones gathered to honor him.

The Good Samaritan, Alan Pearson, died from injuries he sustained when he intervened in a domestic disturbance at the Safeway on Wilshire Boulevard March 12th.

Saturday was a day of tears, but also hugs and smiles as the people who knew him best came out to remember his life.

Pearson’s brother, David, says the turnout proves just how many people’s lives Alan touched.

“You can see, it didn’t matter to him who you were, what your religious standpoint, your political standpoint, it didn’t matter. He was friends with everybody,” David said.

The Pearsons are planning a fundraiser in Alan’s memory and to support his wife, Vanessa.

It will feature Stereotype, Alan’s favorite band. The band recently broke up but will get back together one final time for the occasion.
