Rental rates up for 4th of July holiday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Early indications from the 4th of July holiday show hotel occupancy in our area may have been up from last year. According to a survey of 21 rental properties and hotels, 47 percent say bookings were about the same as last year’s holiday. Forty percent say numbers were up.

The survey shows people seemed to be waiting longer to make those reservations. A third of those surveyed said advance bookings were down, and two-thirds had walk-ins during the holiday weekend.
