Review of Bragg’s Warrior Transition Battalion due
FORT BRAGG, NC (AP) — The 18th Airborne chief of staff will present the findings of an inspection of the Warrior Transition Battalion, which soldiers and spouses have said wrongly accuse troops of faking illness or injury to prevent them from getting full military benefits.
Brig. Gen. Michael X. Garrett will present the findings from the 18th Airborne Corps inspector general this afternoon at Fort Bragg.
The commanding general of the 18th Airborne and Fort Bragg ordered the inspection after hearing concerns from spouses of soldiers in the Warrior Transition Battalion. The investigation began in mid-February after an advocacy group told Lt. Gen. Frank G. Helmick that some soldiers in the battalion believed they are being overmedicated, poorly treated and unfairly discharged.
