‘RJ Decker’ plans filming in Wilmington neighborhood next week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — ‘RJ Decker’ is scheduled to film in a Wilmington neighborhood next week, with temporary traffic restrictions planned along South Churchill Drive.

Filming is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at a home on South Churchill Drive. Exterior and interior house scenes are planned.

The production is expected to include two cast members, 85 crew members and 50 extras.

According to the permit application, equipment parking will be along South Churchill Drive between Gillette and Knightsbridge streets and on Knollwood Road between South Churchill and Gillette.

The production’s base camp, crew parking and catering will be at Independence Mall on Oleander Drive.

Traffic impacts

South Churchill Drive will be closed between Knollwood and Hillsboro streets within the affected block.

The city said residents and their guests will continue to have access as needed.

The application also calls for no through traffic on South Churchill between Gillette and Hillsboro and on Knollwood from Gillette to South Churchill. Residents and guests will have access during the filming.

Intermittent traffic control will be used in the equipment parking area, and five police officers are scheduled to assist with traffic from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Barricades will be placed at Knollwood Road and South Churchill Drive and at South Churchill Drive and Hillsboro Street.

The production plans to use a generator and lighting equipment in the designated equipment parking area.

No special effects are planned.

The production also lists Sept. 16 and Sept. 17 as potential rain dates. Preparation is scheduled for the day before filming, with production wrap activities planned for the following day.

The city’s notice asks anyone who believes the filming permit would create an undue hardship to contact the production or the city.
