Roads remain closed after truck hits power pole at intersection in Burgaw

BURGAW, N.C. (WWAY) — Drivers are being asked to avoid an intersection in Burgaw after a large truck struck a power pole Friday, Oct. 23.

The incident happened at the intersection of Walker Street (U.S. Highway 117 Business) and Wilmington Street (N.C. Highway 53).

As of 5 p.m. Friday, streets in the area remained closed while crews continued working on repairs and removing the vehicle.

Officials say the process could take several more hours before the area can safely reopen.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the intersection and use alternate routes while crews complete the work.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured.
