Man winds up in jail after scuffle with bail bondsman

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — A Rocky Point man is back in jail after getting into a fight with a bail bondsman Sunday night.

According to the Pender County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Brandon Grizzle, 39, of 123 Bellhammon Forest Drive, bonded out of jail Sunday night.

The sheriff’s office says Grizzle and a bail bondsman got into an altercation in the parking lot at the US Post Office in Rocky Point before 8 p.m.

Captain James Rowell with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office said Grizzle ran away after grabbing the bail bondsman’s pistol.

Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested Grizzle in the Castle Hayne area around 2 a.m.

He’s charged with Larceny of a firearm, Common law robbery, Communicating threats and Assault by pointing a gun.

Grizzle is being held at the Pender County jail under a $75,000 bond.
