School kids bury time capsule at Thalian Hall
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A moment in the present to look to the future through a time capsule. Students from Winter Park Elementary School made pictures of Wilmington, 50 years from now.
The pictures were drawn by fifth graders from the school. This was a part of celebrating the 150th anniversary of the StarNews in Wilmington. The time capsule was buried right in front of Thalian Hall. Many students were happy because they were a part of history in the making.
“I was really excited because I really hope I’m going to be here in 50 years. To see how different we thought it was going to be,” Blythe Folds, a student, said.
“I was so happy to be a part of Wilmington’s history and be right here, standing with like five monuments around me and being part of this,” Sarah Tanny, a student, said.
The capsules will stay underground for the next 50 years and will be unearthed on Wilmington’s 200th anniversary with the publication.
