WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Several streets in downtown Wilmington are expected to see closures and traffic impacts Tuesday as a film production shoots driving scenes in the area.

According to a city permit application, portions of Front Street, Water Street, Dock Street and Muters Alley are scheduled to be closed from early Tuesday morning through the evening for production activities.

The affected areas include Front Street between Dock and Orange streets, Water Street between Market and Orange streets, Dock Street between Water Street and Front Street, and Muters Alley at Front Street.

The closures are expected to be in place from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m., with additional preparation work beginning Monday and wrap activities scheduled for Wednesday.

Traffic control personnel and Wilmington police officers are expected to be stationed at several intersections, including Dock and Front streets, Front and Orange streets, Water and Market streets, and Church Alley near the 119 S. Front Street parking area.

The permit also calls for intermittent traffic control during filming hours, which could further affect vehicle and pedestrian movement in the area.

Parking restrictions will also be in place on several downtown blocks, including portions of Front Street, Harnett Street and Orange Street, along with designated production parking areas.

The application notes the production includes a driving scene involving a stunt driver, as well as a sequence in Muters Alley. The scene includes a vehicle maneuvering through the alley before entering Front Street.

Officials say barricades will be placed at key intersections, and some signage and banners may be temporarily removed during filming.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and expect delays throughout the day, particularly in the downtown core.
