SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Health Services is relocating its Shallotte-area Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) office to a new site later this month, with services continuing uninterrupted for local families.

Beginning Monday, April 20, the office will open at its new location inside the H. Mark Gore EMS Headquarters Building. All services, staffing, and operations will remain the same, officials said.

The new office will welcome walk-ins starting at 1 p.m. on April 20, before resuming its regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning April 21.

The current WIC office on Holden Beach Road will remain open through Thursday, April 16, ahead of the transition.

Health Services staff are contacting clients to reschedule any appointments affected by the move, particularly those set for April 17 and April 20, to ensure there is no disruption in services. Clients with questions about appointments can call the Shallotte WIC office.

County officials say the move will allow Brunswick County to utilize space in an existing county-owned building, reducing costs associated with rent and utilities at the previous location.

The new office is located near the intersection of U.S. 17 and Main Street in Shallotte. Signage will be in place to direct visitors to parking and the main entrance, with designated parking available in front of the building for WIC clients.

The WIC program provides nutritional support and resources for eligible women, infants, and children, and officials say the relocation is part of an effort to maintain accessible, efficient services for the community.
