Slide Fest turns Downtown Wilmington into a water park
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In downtown Wilmington, you may have noticed some road closures as hundreds of folks were slipping and sliding down Red Cross Street for Slide Fest.
The gigantic water slide travels across the country turning cities into water parks. Event director Wayne Street said the 1,000-foot slide is just a fun way to enjoy the outdoors.
“Just coming out, sliding, having a good time. It’s a family event so a lot of kids and even a lot of UNCW folks are out just wanting to get a little wet. End of the summer’s coming around so it’s a good opportunity to get wet for one of the last times that we’ll be able to, on a great day like today,” said Street.
The fun went on all day from noon to 6 p.m. and there were even food trucks out for folks to enjoy between turns on the slide.
