Something you don’t hear often; SAS is hiring

CARY, N.C. (AP) – A North Carolina software company is doing so
well finding fraud for state and local governments it’s hiring more
analysts.

Cary-based SAS Institute said Tuesday it’s expanding a unit that
uses software to comb through databases to uncover patterns of
waste, fraud, threats to public safety, and which public schools
are effective. The unit now employs more than 200, most with
advanced degrees.

Los Angeles County uses SAS to uncover fraud among those getting
child-care and public assistance benefits.

SAS says it’s confident state and local governments will
increase their demand for the company’s analytical software and
services.
