South Brunswick holds off Richlands, 27-12

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — South Brunswick held on for a 27-12 victory over Richlands Friday night, using a strong second-half effort to stay in control.

The Cougars entered the second half with the lead, but Richlands quickly created a scoring opportunity after South Brunswick junior receiver Edward Young fumbled while running out of the wildcat formation.

The Wildcats capitalized, scoring on a short quarterback keeper by junior Baylee Rayth to cut into the Cougars’ lead.

South Brunswick answered with another drive down the field, but the Cougars had trouble holding onto the football throughout the game.

One fumble could have ended the possession, but tight end Dakota Floyd recovered the loose ball to keep the drive alive.

South Brunswick ultimately held off Richlands 27-12.
