South Shore Drive reopens as crews successfully stabilize fire-damaged home in Surf City

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — South Shore Drive has reopened in Surf City as crews successfully stabilize a fire-damaged home

The fire happened around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, in the 2300 block of South Shore Drive. Town officials said the building was in unstable condition, and could have collapsed.

One firefighter was taken to a medical facility to be checked out during the initial response. Town officials said the firefighter has since been released and returned to work.

No one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
