Southern Bank donates $10,000 to Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Southern Bank is donating $10,000 to Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity to support the organization’s efforts to provide affordable housing in the Cape Fear region.
The sponsorship will fund two Team Build days, giving Southern Bank employees the opportunity to work alongside Cape Fear Habitat volunteers on affordable housing projects.
Cape Fear Habitat says Team Build days give local businesses and organizations a hands-on opportunity to support affordable home construction while providing team-building experiences for employees.
“Partners like Southern Bank ensure that local families have access to homes they can afford and maintain,” said Marlowe Foster, president and CEO of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity.
Foster said Southern Bank has also been a trusted partner of the organization’s finance team.
“We are excited to welcome their team on-site as we continue working together to make an impact in the year ahead,” Foster said.
Colleen Hattingh, Southern Bank’s Wilmington branch manager, said the partnership allows employees to directly support the communities where they live and work.
“At Southern Bank, we’re proud to invest in the neighborhoods we serve,” Hattingh said. “Partnering with Cape Fear Habitat on Team Build days gives our employees a hands-on way to help build homes and stronger communities right here where we live and work.”
Southern Bank is also a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, which allows Cape Fear Habitat to apply for down payment assistance for future homeowners.
