Southport man accused of attempting to bribe police officers

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) – A Southport man is accused of assaulting a woman and trying to bribe the police officers who responded.

The Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department says last night, Colton Thomas Terrell pushed a woman to the ground and kicked her multiple times.

According to arrest warrants, when Boiling Spring Lakes police arrived, Terrell refused to communicate with an officer, resulting in a standoff.

Warrants also say Terrell offered two Boiling Spring Lakes police officers $5,000 if they wouldn’t charge him and take him to jail.

Terrell is charged with assault on a female, resisting a public officer and offering bribes.

He was placed under a $20,000 bond.
