Southport parks and recreation director to retire
SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The City of Southport has announced that Parks and Recreation Director Heather Hemphill will voluntarily retire effective Sept. 1, 2026.
In a statement released Tuesday, the city said Hemphill’s retirement is not related to the ongoing Parks & Recreation investigation.
Hemphill has worked for the City of Southport for 27 years and five months.
City officials said no additional information regarding Hemphill’s retirement is being released at this time.
