SOUTHPORT, NC (StarNews) — The NC State Ports Authority, looking to streamline its property holdings, has put the Southport Marina on the market and intends to do the same with 11 other mostly undeveloped properties in New Hanover, Brunswick and Carteret counties.
Tom Adams, chairman of the authority’s board of directors, said the move is mainly to allow the agency to focus on its core mission – operating deepwater ports in Wilmington and Morehead City.
“We’re looking at property that the ports currently owns and making an assessment as to whether they’re underutilized or could be better utilized by another party,” the Ocean Isle Beach developer said.
