Stolen student loan data recovered

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — Good news for the nearly 97,000 North Carolinians who’s student loan data was stolen. Electronic records stolen from student loan guarantor Educational Credit Management Corporation have been recovered.

ECMC says law enforcement has the DVDs with data for about 3.3 million student loan borrowers nationwide. The company also says investigators do not believe the data was accessed or compromised.
