Suspect admits human trafficking in prostitution case involving cop, firefighter
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man connected to a prostitution case involving a former police officer and a former firefighter has pleaded guilty to human trafficking of a minor.
Shawn Christopher Conley entered the plea today in Brunswick County Superior Court, the District Attorney’s Office says. A judge sentenced him to more than 6.5 years in prison.
In May, Boiling Spring Lakes Police arrested Conley and Kyle Wolfe for promotion of prostitution of a minor in an investigation that started six months earlier and involved a 17-year-old girl. Police said the investigation involved advertisements on the internet via different social medial websites. The case eventually implicated a Northwest police officer and a volunteer firefighter in BSL.
Wolfe’s charges are still pending.
