Tar Heels lose second straight College World Series to Oregon State

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — It was the same story for North Carolina and it did not have a happy ending.

North Carolina lost to Oregon State 9 to 3 last night in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. It's the second straight year the Beavers have defeated the Tar Heels.

Oregon State is the first repeat champion since LSU ten years ago.

Carolina's players watched Oregon State raise the trophy, put on national champion T-shirts, and pose for pictures as fans cheered.

North Carolina coach Mike Fox wasn't one of them. He went to the locker room instead.

The Tar Heels wrap up the year with a 57 and 16 record. The Beavers finished at 49 and 18.

North Carolina left runners on base in all but three innings last night. They stranded a total of 18 runners in the two games.
