THANK YOU! One-Day Blitz shatters previous record!!!!

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The numbers are coming in and it looks like the WWAY One-Day Blitz benefiting the Salvation Army is another major success!

Major Richard Watts with the Salvation Army says, at first count, the 2016 food drive brought in more than 12 tons of food.   The 2015 total of 10 tons of non-perishable food items was the previous record.

“Donations, to me,” Shamia Hines told WWAY at the event, “helps homeless people and people who are sick to get food and stuff.”

We’re still waiting on the cash donation total.   WWAY would like to thank everyone who made this year’s food drive to stock the Salvation Army food bank a success as well as Krispy Kreme for donated the donuts for the cause!
