WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new destination for sports, fitness and social activities celebrated its grand opening Friday in Wilmington.

The Club at Midtown, built on the site of the former Holly Tree Racquet Club, welcomed members and guests for a grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 6.

Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo was among those in attendance for the celebration.

The private racquet and social club features:

  • Eleven indoor, air-conditioned pickleball courts.
  • Four covered outdoor pickleball courts.
  • Two clay tennis courts.
  • Golf simulators.
  • A fitness center.
  • A resort-style pool.

The facility also includes a members-only restaurant, café and bar, offering opportunities to socialize beyond sports and fitness activities.

General Manager Tommy Adams said the grand opening marks the culmination of two years of work.

“We’re an athletic club, sports club, racquet club with a focus on the social aspect,” said Adams. “It’s a lot of smiles, and being in the hospitality, that’s what we live for.” Adams said.

The club also has plans to expand its amenities in 2027, and plans to replaster and heat its swimming pool ahead of the 2027 pool season.

You can learn more and apply for membership at the club’s website.
