Temptations to perform during Azalea Festival


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – This afternoon, the Azalea Festival committee announced The Temptations featuring Dennis Edwards will perform at Kenan Auditorium on Wednesday, April 5.

According to a news release, The Temptations provide an opportunity for the Azalea Festival to showcase some of the  best  Carolina  shagging  music,  while  giving  attendees  an  intimate,  sit-down concert experience.  Music lovers of other genres can still look forward to the North Carolina Azalea Festival announcing multiple nationally-headlining acts for the Main Stage Concert Series in 2017.

Tickets to The Temptations featuring Dennis Edwards are $45 and can be purchased here.  The show starts at 8:oo p.m. and doors will open one hour prior to showtime.

The festival also announced it is holding the Pre-Festival party on Friday, January 20 at the Hilton Riverside. The Imitations will perform at that party. Tickets are $42 and include beer and wine, appetizers, and music.

Also returning this year, The Riverwalk Shag Contest. It returns after a five-year hiatus. It will feature 24 amateur couples showcasing their steps. The Shag Contest will take place April 8 and 9 at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside Ballroom.
