Three face charges after alleged Whiteville shooting

Three are being charged after an alleged shootout in Columbus county

Whiteville, NC (WWAY) — Three people are facing charges following an alleged exchange of gunfire Friday in Whiteville, according to arrest warrants and court records.

Arthur Dale Jackson Jr., 19, is accused of firing a handgun into a home at 429 Ward St. while Shyreak William Belton, 34, was inside. The warrant alleges Jackson assaulted Belton with the handgun with the intent to kill him.

Jackson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into occupied property, discharging a firearm in the city and possession of a handgun by a minor. The alleged offenses occurred Aug. 14, according to the warrant.

Court records allege Belton fired back with an AR-style pistol into a moving red Chevrolet Equinox on Ward Street. The vehicle was occupied by Jackson and Shatisha Jackson, according to the warrant.

Belton is charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle.

Shatisha Janice Jackson, 43, is charged with felony conspiracy. Her arrest warrant alleges she conspired with Arthur Jackson and two other people to commit assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill against Belton.

Release orders show Arthur Jackson and Belton were being held without bond pending court proceedings. The documents list court appearances for both men at 11 a.m. Monday.

Court records also list an 11 a.m. Monday court appearance for Shatisha Jackson.
