Town of Wrightsville Beach establishes an emergency access lane

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Wrightsville Beach will begin establishing a designated emergency access lane along the shoreline starting April 27, citing recent storm impacts and ongoing beach erosion.
Officials say the reduced width of the beach in some areas has made it necessary to create a clearly defined lane to ensure emergency responders and sanitation crews can safely navigate the shoreline when needed.
The project has been approved with environmental considerations in mind, with efforts made to minimize disruption to dunes and native vegetation. Town leaders emphasized that the work will be completed before May 1, when sea turtle nesting season begins along the North Carolina coast.
Beachgoers are being asked to avoid the marked lanes, which will be identified by white PVC poles, to allow for safe and unobstructed access for emergency and maintenance vehicles.
Town officials say the temporary measure is an important step in maintaining public safety while protecting sensitive coastal habitats.
