Traffic stop at Whiteville hotel ends with two drug arrests, deputies say
WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Two men were arrested following a traffic stop at a Whiteville motel, authorities say.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office says deputies saw a car that was registered to Henry Brandt pull into the parking lot of the Holiday Motel on Dec. 8. Deputies knew Brandt had an outstanding warrant related to Operation Giving Thanks, CCSO wrote in a release.
When deputies stopped the car, Brandt allegedly jumped out and took off. Deputies chased after him, but Brandt reportedly hit a metal beam and fell to the ground. That’s when he was then arrested.
“K-9 Gunny was then deployed for an exterior sniff of the vehicle,” the release stated. “K-9 Gunny displayed a positive alert. The vehicle and occupants were searched. Deputies located two pipes, heroin, a syringe, Suboxone tablets, Adderall tablets, crystal methamphetamine, packaging materials, cut straws, and a digital scale.”
Joe Allen Formyduval Jr., who was driving the car, was arrested too.
Brandt was charged with felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver a Schedule II CS, felony Possession of Schedule I CS, misdemeanor Possession of Schedule II CS, misdemeanor Possession of Schedule III CS, misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and misdemeanor Resist, Delay, and Obstruct. He was served a warrant for Sell/Deliver a Schedule II CS from Operation Giving Thanks. He received a $23,000 secured bond.
Formyduval was charged with felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver a Schedule II CS, misdemeanor Possession of Schedule III CS, and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He received a $6,500 secured bond.
