Trash to Treasures: Carolina Beach to host large yard sale
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — If you’re feeling cash-strapped or have things around the house you’d like to get rid of, there’s an event taking place this weekend you may be interested in.
The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce is hosting its “Trash to Treasure Yard Sale” on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be spaces available for 70 tents, crafters, vendors or whatever you have laying around to sale.
“We are letting our citizens have an avenue to get rid of their ‘trash’ and turn it into holiday cash,” said Greg Reynolds, president of the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce.
With the coronavirus pandemic, Reynolds says they’re taking steps to limit the spread of COVID-19.
“We are placing the tents at a distance to allow social distancing and we encourage everyone to wear a face mask or covering,” he said. “We have bathrooms at the lake and we encourage hand-washing.”
The yard sale will be held at Carolina Beach Lake Park located at 400 South Lake Park Boulevard.
If you want to participate, the fee is $25 per 10×10 space. Admission is free for anyone who want to come and shop.
The Chamber will also sell water and sodas, and Nauti Dogs will be on site with their popular and varied gourmet hot dogs.
“We also have a great raffle with the Grand Prize is a 50″ Flat-Screen TV and a Beach Cruiser courtesy of Shore Break Bikes,” Reynolds said. “We will have additional prizes to be announced during the event to drive ticket sales.”
You do not have to be present to win. Tickets will be $5 each or 6 for $25. The Chamber will use the proceeds to support a number of non-profits on the Island.
“So empty your storage unit, clean out your garage and bring it to the lake,” Reynolds said. “If it doesn’t sale, we will have a Habitat Truck on site for donations, if you do not want to take it home!”
