Two Cape Fear nurses receive prestigious statewide honor

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two Cape Fear nurses have been recognized with a statewide honor in the nursing profession.

Savannah Cribb of Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Meagan Jones of Pender Medical Center have been named in The Great 100 Nurses of North Carolina, an annual recognition program that honors outstanding registered nurses across the state.

Nearly 500 registered nurses were nominated this year. Recipients are selected for their leadership, clinical expertise, compassion and commitment to patient care.

Jones, who has worked as a nurse for 16 years, said she was surprised to learn she had been selected.

“We don’t ever set out to do this for the recognition it’s really not about the award, that was nice, but just to be apart of it, of all the other people it represents in the nursing profession, that really is a true honor,” Jones said.

Cribb, who has worked as a nurse for eight years, said the recognition is a reminder of the impact nurses have on their patients and communities every day.

“Sometimes, we get a little siloed into what we are doing everyday and to be able to step back and realize what we’re doing does impact every single day and to be awarded for that is awesome,” Cribb said.
