UNCW professor responds to allegations of falsified information on resume

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A UNCW professor who has come under fire recently for controversial tweets is now responding to allegations that he falsified information on his resume.

Mike Adams has faced criticism from staff and students for a number of social media posts focused on COVID-19 and the death of George Floyd.

On Adams’ resume, he lists a number of professional affiliations. WWAY reached out to these organizations to confirm his membership.

From the organizations that responded, two said Adams is not and has never been a member as far as their records go back.

One organization said he has not been a member for at least the last five years.

Adams released a statement on the matter saying:

“My curriculum vitae lists all professional organizations with which I have been affiliated in any way at any point in my career, not just those to which I currently belong. Some of these occurred almost thirty years ago. Any slight inaccuracy in a name is unintentional.”
