UNCW puts on special event for veterans and America 250

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Pride was on display at the “America 250 Veteran Jamboree” event at UNCW.

Dozens of veterans were applauded at a special event near UNCW’s Veteran Hall to commemorate them and also celebrated two hundred fifty years of America.

Both veterans and participants enjoyed music, food, activities, and learn about important resources as they all talked amongst each other.

But one thing on one veteran’s mind is the ongoing conflict that is happening in the world right now. He gives some words of encouragement to those in service right now.

“It’s our chain of command, and we follow what the chain of command does. We may not know what the objective is. Hopefully through our mission, it will become clear to us. I think our active military members are practicing that same thing today,” said Frank Roberts.

One special guest who was at the event was Major James Capers, who many veterans are supporting for him to get a medal of honor.
