UNCW students hold vigil for Boston victims, Virginia Tech

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –Just after dark Tuesday night, UNCW students started to gather near the student union.

The purpose was a student organized vigil for those killed and injured in Boston and to remember Virginia Tech.

There were prayers, songs and candles, to share emotions and show that they care.
“My friends are compelled by our compassion to do something,” Student Hollis Vilagos said. “Even though we are a relatively small campus we want to make it known that we care. We are also a big running and fitness community so we want to share something that relates.”

Organizers say they will send pictures and encouragement to those hospitalized in Boston.
