USS North Carolina LEGO-inspired building set launching Memorial Day

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new limited-edition building set inspired by the historic Battleship North Carolina is set to debut Memorial Day at Bricks & Minifigs Wilmington.

The 314-piece custom model, made with authentic LEGO parts, recreates the iconic USS North Carolina battleship and will be sold exclusively at the Wilmington store beginning Monday, May 25.

The locally owned retailer said the Battleship was a natural choice for its first historic custom model release.

“When you mention Wilmington, North Carolina to anyone else in the country, typically one of the first few things they will bring up is the Battleship,” said store owner Scott Saxton. “It is a source of pride for us here and I knew that this had to be the first of many historic custom MOC’s that we will offer at our store.”

Saxton added that releasing the set on Memorial Day made the launch especially meaningful.

The model was designed and produced by Parker’s Brick Builds, a custom LEGO-style brand that worked with Bricks & Minifigs Wilmington on the project over several months. Store officials said leadership from the Battleship consulted on the design process to help ensure historical accuracy.

The limited-edition set will only be available in-store while supplies last.
