Vandals damage tomb at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — More bad news for a beloved historic site in Brunswick County.

According to a post on the Facebook page for Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson, vandals targeted the box tomb of William Dry III. They said the damage is irreversible, and Dry was one of the Cape Fear’s most important and influential citizens.

This is the second time in a week the historic site has been targeted. Last weekend, someone broke into the site and stole Civil War buttons.

Anyone with information on either crime is urged to contact the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
