Veterans offered free meals, discounts this week

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – To show appreciation to veterans and active duty members of our military, several restaurants and businesses are offering free meals or discounts.

Carolina Ale Houses in NC, VA and TN will offer 6 free wings to celebrate Veteran’s Day on Friday.

IHOP is offering a free stack of their Red, White, & Blue Pancakes to those who served or are currently serving. The pancakes will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m on Friday.

Olive Garden restaurants will offer a free entrée from a special menu to active-duty military and military veterans. The special menu features six of Olive Garden’s most popular items. Entrées are served with unlimited homemade soup or famous house salad and warm, garlic breadsticks.

LongHorn Steakhouse will offer a free appetizer or dessert (no purchase required, no restrictions) to anyone showing proof of military service. In addition, LongHorn Steakhouse will offer 10% off for guests who dine with Veterans on Friday.

Texas Roadhouse is offering free lunch from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday. All veterans, including all active, retired or former United States military, can choose one of 10 entrees. Guests must show proof of service such as military or VA card, or discharge papers.

Red Lobster will offer a free appetizer or dessert with a valid military ID on Thursday and Friday. The apps and desserts will be on a special menu that includes things like seafood-stuffed mushrooms, sweet chili shrimp, and New York-Style cheesecake.

Mission BBQ is offering a free sandwich and slice of cake to veterans and active duty service members on Friday.  There will be a live performance of the national anthem by a military member at noon as well.

Looking for something fun to do?

To recognize the men and women who have served or are actively serving in the military, Port City Escape, Wilmington’s Immersive Adventure Experience, is offering veterans free admission to one escape experience of his or her choice on Friday.

“We want to demonstrate our gratitude to those who have or are currently defending our country,” says Kris Testori, owner of Port City Escape. “These men and women are true role models to today’s youth, so on Veteran’s Day we are showing our appreciation to them by offering free admission.”

JcPenney is offering a 5% discount from November 10-13 to current and former military personnel and their immediate family members with valid military or VA identification provided in-store. The discount can be combined with additional coupons and special offers including a $10 off $25 coupon with any form of payment or 20 percent off coupon when paying with a JCPenney credit card.

Wilmington’s Buff Masters Hand Car Wash & Detail Center will be offering FREE car washes to veterans and current military service personnel all day Friday, Nov. 11 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. as a part of the national Grace For Vets Free Car Wash Program.
