Volunteering a Thanksgiving tradition for some families
While many of us spend the day with our families, others were out volunteering to make it a happy holiday for those in need.
At the Salvation Army in Wilmington, volunteers cooked up collards, stuffing, vegetables, and, of course, turkey. Cooks started preparing the food last night to have it all ready in time. For volunteers like Zach and Trevor Hardison, helping out on Thanksgiving has become a tradition.
Basically, all of our family’s been doing it for years now we decided we wanted to do it,” said Zach.
“I just like helping people,” added Trevor.
The Salvation Army volunteers cooked enough meals to feed about 200 people. The meals were offered to the entire community.
