What’s happening across the Cape Fear this weekend

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — If you’re a fan of pop culture searching for nostalgic collectibles, a fan of historic documentaries or even just looking for something to take your mind off the stresses of life to have fun for a night, there’s plenty to do across the Cape Fear this weekend.
Rolling into the first event…on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Scooter’s Family Skate Centre will host a free community skate night with Capeside Psychiatry in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. You can put your mind at ease for a free evening of skating and community connection. The event is family-friendly with free skate rentals, snacks and community resources provided.
Happening on Saturday and Sunday, Pop Culture Productions will host the Pop Culture Expo at the Elks Lodge in Wilmington. You can browse various vendors, add to your growing action figure and comic collections or even just mingle with fellow pop culture enthusiasts. Event times are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door, and kids 12 and under get in free.
Finally, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, if you’re a film and history buff Regal Mayfair will be showing “Revolutionary America” ahead of America’s 250th birthday. The film, narrated by Tom Selleck, explores how America was founded and those who risked their lives fighting for freedom. Tickets for the film can be purchased online with showtimes at 3 and 6 p.m.
