What’s happening across the Cape Fear this weekend

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — Families looking for activities across the Cape Fear region will have several options this weekend, including hands-on science programs and professional wrestling.

On Friday, the Leland Public Library will host Expedition: Dino Squad, a program for preschool through fifth-grade students. The event will feature dinosaur fossils, microscope activities and interactive exhibits. Registration is required, with sessions scheduled for 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

On Saturday, the United Professional Wrestling Association will present Summer Showdown at Williston Middle School in Wilmington beginning at 7 p.m. The event includes a 30-minute Iron Man Match for the Carolinas Championship. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Organizers say proceeds will benefit multiple charities, including the Williston Middle School Booster Club.

Previously we reported the Downtown ILM Market and Pomona Pop Ups third annual Wilmington Bubble Fest, originally scheduled for July 12th, but the event has been rescheduled to August 9th from noon to 4 p.m. at The Bend in Ogden. The free event will include giant bubbles, interactive entertainment, local vendors, live music and activities for all ages.
