What’s happening across the Cape fear this weekend

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — From surf films and coastal culture to a summer haunted market and a Dungeons & Dragons campaign for children, several events are scheduled across the Cape Fear region this weekend.

The Surfalorus Film Festival will celebrate its 15th anniversary with three days of surf-related films and events in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.

The festival begins Friday with a free outdoor screening at Surf City Surf Shop at 8 p.m. Additional films are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday at Jengo’s Playhouse, followed by a final screening at Jengo’s Playhouse at 5 p.m. Sunday. Individual tickets are $10, while three-day festival passes are $15.

Also Saturday, Summer Scream: A Haunted Market will offer an early taste of Halloween with a one-day market featuring oddities, crystals, candles, tarot readings, horror collectibles and artwork from local vendors.

The event runs from 2 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5, while children ages 12 and younger can attend for free.

Families looking for an activity Sunday can also take part in a kids’ Dungeons & Dragons campaign with the Goblin Guild at Cape Fear Games.

The campaign is open to players of all skill levels who are 14 or younger. Sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon and noon to 2 p.m. Entry is $15.
