Whiteville police and fire departments to host Halloween candy giveaway Oct. 31

WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WWAY) — The Whiteville Police Department is trading citations for candy this Halloween as officers team up with the Whiteville Fire Department for a night of family-friendly fun.
The departments are inviting families to join them Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Whiteville City Hall parking lot for an evening of costumes, candy and Halloween festivities.
In a lighthearted social media post, police joked that for one night only, they’ll be encouraging masked visitors to approach officers and expecting plenty of suspicious characters.
The department also joked that any young Spider-Man spotted running through the parking lot might be moving fast enough to warrant a radar check.
Families are encouraged to dress up, bring their candy buckets and enjoy the festivities with local first responders.
The departments say everyone is welcome to join in the Halloween fun.
