Whiteville Police launch online Citizen Connect Portal

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The Whiteville Police Department has launched a new online Citizen Connect Portal designed to make it easier for residents and businesses to access public safety resources and communicate with officers.

The new portal includes interactive crime heat maps that allow users to view crime trends across the city, as well as online reporting for certain non-emergency incidents.

Residents can also use the portal to securely submit tips that may help investigators.

For businesses, the portal offers online reporting options for eligible incidents. Police officials say the feature will reduce the need for officers to respond to routine report calls, allowing them to spend more time patrolling neighborhoods, engaging with the community and responding to higher-priority calls.

The department says the Citizen Connect Portal is part of its ongoing efforts to improve transparency, expand online services and strengthen community policing.
