WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — Wilmington International Airport is about to lose nonstop service to Washington, DC, and add a flight to New York City, according to Jon Rosborough, the airport’s executive director.
The changes are the first ramifications Wilmington has felt of the merger between American Airlines and US Airways.
For the U.S. Department of Justice to sign off on the merger, the new American Airlines had to give up 52 takeoff and landing slots at Reagan National Airport in DC and 17 slots at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
