Wilmington-based Monteith Construction expanding operations to Florida

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington-based Monteith Construction announced plans to expand into Jacksonville, Florida, with a new regional office expected to open in mid-2026.
The company said the office will be located at 7800 Belfort Parkway, Suite 165, and will support clients throughout Northeast Florida.
Monteith Construction named Matt Brittan as regional vice president of operations to lead the Jacksonville expansion while continuing his role overseeing operations in the Myrtle Beach market.
Company officials said the expansion is intended to strengthen Monteith’s presence across the Southeast and support work in several sectors, including commercial, healthcare, hospitality, education, multifamily housing, aviation and public-sector construction.
“Jacksonville is a market we have been strategically evaluating for some time,” President and CEO Bryan Thomas said in a statement. “The region’s continued growth, combined with our existing relationships and operational strengths throughout the Carolinas, made this a natural next step for our company.”
Brittan said the company plans to focus on long-term partnerships and continued regional growth.
“Our goal has never been growth for growth’s sake,” Brittan said in a statement. “We are focused on building meaningful partnerships, investing in people, and becoming a trusted long-term builder in the Jacksonville community.”
Monteith Construction was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Wilmington. The employee-owned company currently has offices in Charleston, Raleigh, Myrtle Beach and the Triad region of North Carolina.
According to the company, its projects include large-scale ground-up construction, renovations and design-build developments across the Carolinas, Virginia and Florida.
The company did not announce how many jobs the Jacksonville expansion could create.
