Wilmington Fire Department accepting applications for November recruit academy

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department is accepting applications for its next Firefighter Recruit Academy, which is scheduled to begin in November.

Applications are open through July 22 for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the fire service. The department is encouraging people who are looking for a career focused on public service, teamwork and emergency response to apply.

The Firefighter Recruit Academy provides training to prepare new firefighters for the demands of the job. Recruits receive instruction in fire suppression, emergency medical response, rescue operations, hazardous materials awareness and other skills needed to serve the community.

The Wilmington Fire Department serves residents and visitors throughout the city by responding to fires, medical emergencies, technical rescues and other emergency incidents. The department also works to promote fire prevention and public safety through education and community outreach.
