Wilmington man charged with kidnapping woman at gunpoint, armed robbery

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he kidnapped a woman at gunpoint, restrained her with zip ties and duct tape, and transported her against her will.

According to arrest warrants obtained from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Randy Ray Walters allegedly kidnapped a woman and held her against her will while armed with a handgun.

Court documents allege Walters restrained the woman using zip ties and duct tape before transporting her in a vehicle without her consent.

Investigators also allege Walters robbed the woman of her North Carolina driver’s license and $52 while threatening her with a handgun.

Walters has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felonious restraint, assault by pointing a gun and assault on a female.

He is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Center without bond.
