WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police have released new details about a hit-and-run collision that injured two pedestrians near the UNCW campus in August.
In an update Monday, Oct. 12, the Wilmington Police Department said investigators believe the vehicle involved was either a Nissan Maxima or Nissan Altima equipped with fog lights.
Police said the vehicle has damage to its hood and front bumper and may also have windshield damage.
The collision happened around 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 29 near the intersection of College Road and Fountain Drive.
According to police, two men were walking in the grass along College Road when a red sedan left the roadway and struck both pedestrians, causing injuries.
The driver then fled into a nearby parking area before continuing onto Kerr Avenue, police said.
WWAY previously spoke with one of the pedestrians injured in the collision, UNCW freshman Andrew Ryan, who was hit just weeks after moving to Wilmington.
