Woman dies after Cypress Cove shooting; suspect arrested

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman critically injured in a shooting at the Cypress Cove Apartments in Wilmington last week has died, according to her family.
Wilmington Police originally responded to the apartment complex on South Turners Run shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, where officers found victim Cynsire Love suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Love’s aunt told WWAY that doctors notified the family that she died at 11:02 p.m. Friday the 26th at the hospital.
Court documents identify Anthony Nasir Sincere Hardy as the defendant in the case involving Love. Hardy has been arrested in connection with the shooting, though additional charges could be filed following Love’s death. According to the DA’s office, there has been no change to the charges against Hardy at this time, however they are “working closely with members of the Wilmington Police Department on this investigation.”
A family friend told WWAY that Love and Hardy were previously friends and that Love was shot inside her apartment at Cypress Cove. The friend also said the District Attorney’s Office told the family that Love was shot 8 to 10 times. WWAY has not independently confirmed the number of gunshot wounds.
According to the family friend, Hardy was arrested in New Bern after allegedly breaking into a home and telling officers he had entered the wrong residence. Authorities reportedly discovered outstanding warrants related to the Wilmington shooting and returned him to New Hanover County.
Police previously said early evidence indicated the shooting was domestic-related, though the investigation remains ongoing.
WWAY has reached out to the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office for additional information, including whether Hardy’s charges will be upgraded following Love’s death.
Funeral or memorial service arrangements have not yet been announced. More updates will be posted when we receive more details.
